16 Months.... What a Fun Age!!

Abby likes to wear Mommy's shirt as a comforting dress (she puts it on by herself)
Look where Rory climbed now... on top of Mommy's sewing table

Rory finally got to Daddy's Dr. Pepper can. Daddy is going to have to put it higher now.

Best Friends!!

"What's up Mom?" ~Rory

Rory is trying to pick out a book to read. She has to read all the reviews first.

Abby found her book!

What a tired little girl

Rory had to try Daddy's glasses on or the world would have come to an end!
Yesterday, June 05, the girls turned 16 months old. They are at such a fun age right now!! Everything is a new discovery and they are really mimicking everything that they see and hear (sometimes that is good and sometimes that is not so good). Both girls are talking plainer and more than ever! Also, they are really starting to comprehend everything that we say and respond appropriately. They have, for several months, been able to follow simple directions, but now even more complex directions aren't really hard for them. I fear that we are getting close to having to switch to toddler beds. As I have said before, both girls love to climb on EVERYTHING. Well, now they are trying their luck at trying to climb out of their cribs. Neither one has been successful up to this point, but I don't think that it is going to be much longer at all. We would really like to hold off until they are 2 yrs., but I'm not sure that we are going to make it before they are over the top rails. Abby has really shocked us here lately. About a week ago, I walked into their room to get them up from their nap and Abby was sitting bare bottomed in her crib and she handed me her wet diaper that she had rolled up like I roll up their dirty diapers. Later that afternoon, she walked up to me and said "Mama, poopoo." Sure enough, when I checked her diaper she was poopy. Everyone thought I had lost my mind when I told them what happened, but she has continued to do it with both Michael and I. She does not like to be wet or poopy and wants it off as soon as she is done (which I don't really blame her). We haven't really been working on potty training at all, but I do tell the girls that they are wet or poopy when I change their diapers. I hadn't really planned on starting potty training this early, but I think that we are going to get a potty chair and at least introduce the concept to the girls. We don't want to push them, but we don't want to discourage Abby if that is where she is headed. Rory really hasn't expressed any interest yet. She still thinks it is fun to "finger paint" in her diaper's contents.... YUCK!!! Both girls are loving the outside this summer! Rory's new job, that she has taken upon herself, is to inform Mommy and Daddy when it is time to take a nap or go to bed. I guess we have done a little too well with getting and keeping the girls on a schedule. When she is finished eating her lunch, she will say "night, night." At night, as 8:00 comes around, she will start saying "mik... night, night" (they always have a cup of milk before they go to bed). Then, if she gets tired throughout the day, she will ask if it's time for "night, night." She also loves to tell people when something is gone by throwing her hands up (palms up) and announcing "gone, gone." Then, she just laughs and giggles. Such smart little girls!! We have had fairly mild weather here lately, but it is starting to get hot. Rory and Abby both love to be in the water and splash each other!! It's really fun to watch!! It amazes us every day how much they interact with one another. They are best friends and want to be with each other constantly. One seems lost without the other. Our girls have such a special bond!! We are all having an awesome time being together this summer!!!! I'm so glad that Michael can be home to see all the fun things that his girls are doing right now. The girls are so excited when they get up every morning and Daddy is there to greet them. They are going to be so spoiled by the end of the summer, but I wouldn't trade this time together for the world!!
